If you read my other blog, you know that I'm a listener of Gretchen Rubin's Happier podcast. I've also read a few of her books; some I liked, some I didn't. For the past few years I've participated in her yearly challenges and themes she has presented (To learn more about the 26 for 2026 challenge, please see the Happier podcast here). This year, I thought I'd double my fun and participate in the 26 for 2026 list on both blogs. This list is more along the lines of my "artsy-fartsy" hopes and dreams for the year...and beyond (probably).
Yes, I'm late to the game, but I know that finally getting this posted and on my mind will do much to benefit my psyche and ramp up my motivation.
So here's my list. As I complete each item, I will mark it as complete. If it is blog worthy, I'll post it as a link, or where applicable include a photo, Pinterest pin, or Instagram post. NOTE: List is subject to change without notice.
WARNING: These items may overlap each other.
- Redesign this blog and publish at least 5 posts (not counting this one).
- Finish the 30 day craft challenge I started nearly 2 years ago (!!).
- Sell at least one piece of art.
- Empty the craft closet: the goal of use what you have: I'm not overrun with supplies, but I would like to use as much of it as I can this year and mostly buying items that complete a project while limiting staring brand new projects while old projects languish.
- Make a Temperature blanket. For more information, see the video tutorial here. (In progress)
- Make the pillowcases to go with my quilt in the living room. (Finished 03/02/2026)
- Make myself a quilt and a set of pillowcases for my bedroom. (In progress)
- Make myself a new crafting apron.
- Make myself a new craft bag.
- Finish at least one knitting project. (In progress)
- Finish at least one class and one series from Creativebug.com.
- Go on or have two creative retreats.
- Make 125 cards for Cards for Kindness. (76 cards so far)
- Host at least one live or online painting party.
- Redesign my kitchen canisters
- "Before and After" - Redoing old projects with my (hopefully) improved skills.
- Finish the items for Colorado Family Life Center I started and deliver them.
- Paint a canvas larger than 18x24.
- Make a new box for my plastic canvas bobbins.
- I had so much fun doing this in 2025 that I want to do it again: #FiveToOne - For every five projects finished from Pinterest and my YouTube Crafts to Try playlist, I may pin/save ONE new one. And, no, deleting pins or videos does not give me permission to pin more. (For the Pinterest projects click here. For the YouTube projects, click here.).
- Do at least five art/craft projects based on the prompts of Moriah Elizabeth's "Create This Book" series/book.
- Create a mixed media art piece.
- Make an art quilt.
- Create a scrapbook either physically or digitally.
- Make the crochet Nativity scene I bought the pattern for a couple of years ago.
- Free play! These are the fun things I want to accomplish throughout the year that didn't make into the top 26.
- Items from my 26 for 2026 list on my other blog.
- Create art based on my photographs.
- Visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum again.
- TBA
